The End Result

“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus.”
{Philippians 1:6}

Ever since I got back from the West Coast Christian Conference a week ago, I’ve been thinking a lot about the things I have going on in my life. It can be so easy to be disheartened when I feel like I’m always struggling with the same things or not progressing as much as I should be in my walk. But it was so encouraging to be reminded to look to eternity for the Lord has already completed His work and accomplished His will. In this life, we do struggle and we do fail, a lot. But if we can look unto Him who is faithful and has promised to begin the good work He has begun in our lives, we don’t have to feel disheartened or frustrated. We can trust that He has already perfected us in eternity and that as one brother put it, “we begin at the top of the hill, with victory”. Our position in Him is already a glorious and victorious position because of what Christ has done for us. When we realize the position we are standing in before the Father, how can we be discouraged? Christ has already won the victory over all our temptation, sin, and struggles with He proclaimed, “It is finished” on the cross.

We must keep our eyes on the things in eternity and take hold of the promise God has already given to us, that He is faithful and will carry us through even despite our failures, not because of anything we do, but because that’s just in His character.
